What duties do our System Development employees do at our IES Communications' Birmingham Branch?
The Director of System Development in our branch in Birmingham is responsible for overseeing all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals. They devise and establish policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management, analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs, and provide support for the existing systems as needed. They also identify the need for upgrades, configurations, or new systems and report to upper management, build a network of peers with knowledge of our ERP solution, and maintain strong relationships with key leaders across the organization. Additionally, they communicate with and influence internal and external stakeholders regarding key project objectives to ensure buy-in, align technology solutions with business strategies, and represent the development vision to the business. They analyze performance results to identify bottlenecks and suggest optimizations, observe, evaluate, and document existing business processes and requirements, provide support to users and assist with troubleshooting application and business process issues, and provide training. They are also responsible for development activities including analysis, design, coding, data migration, and testing for production and development environments. They manage project governance, monitor projects from initiation through delivery, and drive accountability to deliver project success. They make policy recommendations and plans in line with the Strategic IT plan and business requirements, identify and mitigate potential problems and conflicts with development delivery, and seek opportunities to enhance and streamline processes.
