What will you do as a Data Center Technician at our IES Communications' Buckeye Branch?
In our Buckeye branch, the roles of Data Center Technicians at Levels I, II, III, and Lead Technician encompass a broad range of responsibilities critical to maintaining operational excellence within our data centers. These duties include executing all scheduled data center moves, adds, changes (MACs), and deletions with precision, ensuring hardware installations are performed accurately, and managing asset auditing and daily work log tracking. Our technicians provide essential smart-hands assistance across various sites, adhering to strict SLA response times, which may involve on-call duties. They maintain rigorous documentation and record-keeping practices, uphold site security protocols, and ensure compliance with data protection procedures. A strong working knowledge of server and network hardware/components, along with expertise in copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing, is fundamental. Additionally, they coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping, and RMA processing support as needed, offer vendor and security escorts, and contribute to general cleanliness and maintenance of the data center environment. Our team members actively support standard and emergency operating procedures, engage in detailed status reporting regarding service availability, performance, and capacity utilization, and conduct daily inspections for overall health, power, cooling, and potential hazards.
