As Sales Tax Compliance Specialists at our branch in Tucson, our employees provide essential support to internal customers for tax-related issues. They meticulously review tax certificates and packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, while also conducting tax research and offering interpretation and application of tax rules. Working closely with Contract Admin, they review sales tax applications for job packages to ensure accuracy and policy compliance. Acting as liaisons between the tax department and external vendors or service providers, our specialists stay updated on changes in tax legislation, rulings, regulations, and litigation that may impact the business. They identify, communicate, and conduct strategic audits and refunds to recover sales/use tax exposure amounts and overpayments. Additionally, they handle specific tax questions from Operations and Sales, providing guidance as needed. Demonstrating leadership skills and a comprehensive knowledge of sales and use taxes, our specialists document, monitor, evaluate, and update internal procedures and process maps for compliance activities. They also recommend and drive compliance process improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce tax exposure. Finally, they actively participate in the sales and business licenses tax compliance segment of migrations for new systems, following established guidelines on how to apply tax to transactions.
