What duties do our Virtual Design and Construction employees do at our IES Communications' Irvine Branch?
As our employees in Irvine, the Director of Virtual Design and Construction is responsible for developing processes, infrastructure, and teams to manage the use of Virtual Design & Construction models for all construction projects. They ensure virtual models are obtained from design teams at milestone dates and oversee the organization and preparation of models for use in quantity takeoffs. They coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) instructions with preconstruction and operations teams and facilitate regular BIM coordination. The Director also manages the preparation of coordination drawings and supports the process of procuring future projects. The Virtual Design and Construction Field Detailer interfaces with field construction personnel to coordinate installation with VDC using Navisworks and shop drawings. They communicate installation progress to the VDC department and create red-lined/as-built drawings based on field conditions. The Field Detailer audits installations to ensure accuracy and coordinates and troubleshoots installation issues. The Virtual Design and Construction Manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, managing, and supervising all direct reports. They provide guidance and mentoring to meet customer and company goals and manage workload distribution. The Manager stays up to date with developing technologies and systems and manages VDC projects, conducts quality checks, and troubleshoots technology issues. The Virtual Design and Construction Project Coordinator cooperates and communicates effectively with management and team members. They prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor weekly updates and manage workload distribution. The Coordinator also assists in project closeout, tracks drawing and close-out progress, and serves as the first point of contact for the CAD team. They review drawings and CAD files for quality assurance and produce CAD drawings based on existing or proposed designs.
