What will you do as a Project Cost Analyst at our IES Communications' Atlanta Branch?
Our branch in Atlanta employs a team of Project Cost Analysts (PCA), led by a Project Cost Analyst Manager. The PCAs are responsible for planning, managing, monitoring, and maintaining project profitability to achieve company goals. They work closely with project accounting to ensure costs are accurately recorded in the ledger and manage project cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition. The PCAs also participate in cost review meetings and prepare budget and financial forecasts, as well as monthly/quarterly forecast reports. They research technical accounting issues for compliance, support month-end and year-end close processes, and collaborate with project personnel to prepare required project reporting. Additionally, they are involved in process improvement initiatives and handle other assigned responsibilities. The Project Cost Analyst Manager oversees the PCAs and is responsible for recruiting, training, managing, and supervising the team. They also handle human resource issues, provide guidance and mentoring, and ensure project profitability aligns with company goals. A Project Cost Supervisor (PCS) is also part of the team and supervises a small group of PCAs. The PCS assists in creating and revising a standard Job Audit review process, attends and leads review meetings, assists in training new PCAs, implements strategies to reduce underbilling, and works with the team on month-end closing. They also collaborate with project managers and PCAs to ensure compliance with job cost, billing, and change order requirements. The PCS plays a crucial role in maintaining project profitability and overseeing financial transactions and reporting.
