The Director of System Development in Ankeny is responsible for overseeing all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals. They devise and establish policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management. They analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs and provide support for the existing systems as needed. The Director also identifies the need for upgrades, configurations, or new systems and reports to upper management. They build a network of peers with knowledge of our ERP solution and maintain strong relationships with key leaders across the organization. The Director communicates with and influences internal and external stakeholders regarding key project objectives to ensure buy-in. They work with stakeholders and technical resources to align technology solutions with business strategies and establish a strategic relationship with appropriate level key business and IT stakeholders. The Director represents the development vision to the business and analyzes performance results to identify bottlenecks and suggest optimizations. They have an end-to-end understanding of the business and observe, evaluate, and document existing business processes and requirements. The Director provides support to users and assists with troubleshooting application and business process issues, as well as provides training. They also handle development activities including analysis, design, coding, data migration, and testing for production and development environments. The Director manages project governance, monitors projects from initiation through delivery, and drives continuous improvement. They lead project teams, drive accountability, and deliver project success. The Director sets project objectives, drives the requirements and project definition process, and schedules project deliverables and milestones. They understand and anticipate the direction of the business area, identify opportunities, and make recommendations to support the assigned business area's desired future state. The Director makes policy recommendations and plans in line with the Strategic IT plan and business requirements, and identifies and mitigates potential problems and conflicts with development delivery. They also seek opportunities to enhance and streamline processes, and have other responsibilities as assigned.
