What will you do as a Data Center Technician at our IES Communications' Cedar Rapids Branch?

At our Cedar Rapids branch, we have a dedicated team of Data Center Technicians across various levels, each playing a crucial role in maintaining the operational excellence and security of our data centers. From Level I to Lead Data Center Technician, our staff is adept at handling everything from scheduled Moves/Adds/Changes (MACs) to troubleshooting and break-fix scenarios, ensuring asset management, auditing, and compliance with retention practices are meticulously managed. Our technicians possess strong knowledge of server and network hardware/components, as well as data center productivity tools and software, including Windows, Linux, SSH, RDP, Putty, among others. They're also responsible for maintaining site security protocols, providing smart-hands assistance within specified SLA response times, and coordinating equipment/material receiving, shipping, and RMA processing support as needed. Additionally, they contribute to the cleanliness and general upkeep of the data center environments and adhere to standard and emergency operating procedures, all while offering detailed documentation and record-keeping. Each level brings deeper expertise and responsibilities, with higher levels coordinating more complex tasks and potentially serving as interim Team Leads, emphasizing our commitment to maintaining high standards of service availability, performance, capacity utilization, and overall data center health.
