What duties do our Virtual Design and Construction employees do at our IES Communications' Portland Branch?
As employees at our branch in Portland, the Director of Virtual Design and Construction is responsible for developing processes, infrastructure, and teams to manage the use of Virtual Design & Construction models for construction projects. They oversee the organization and preparation of models for use in quantity takeoffs and coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) instructions with preconstruction and operations teams. Additionally, they manage the preparation of coordination drawings and support the procurement of future projects. The Virtual Design and Construction Field Detailer interfaces with field construction personnel to coordinate installations using Navisworks and/or shop drawings. They audit installations for accuracy and maintain records and documentation of each project. The Virtual Design and Construction Manager recruits, trains, and manages the VDC team, provides guidance and mentoring, and stays up to date with technology trends. They manage VDC projects, develop standards, and provide internal trainings. The Virtual Design and Construction Project Coordinator cooperates and communicates effectively with management and team members, prepares and monitors weekly updates, and manages workload distribution. They also oversee drawing and close-out progress for multiple projects and serve as the first point of contact for the CAD team.
