This includes anticipating vehicle needs to ensure timely ordering, upfitting, and delivery, as well as managing maintenance and repairs in partnership with our fleet management company. Our Fleet Manager is pivotal in developing strategies to keep fuel and repair costs within acceptable limits while leveraging telematics solutions for optimal vehicle utilization. They conduct annual audits to assess the condition of all vehicles, prioritizing replacements as necessary, and maintain robust relationships with key vendors, including OEMs, upfitters, and dealer networks. Cost control, vendor negotiations, addressing driver complaints, and exploring innovative solutions like electric vehicle (EV) options are also part of their domain. Ensuring compliance with standards such as DOT and EPA, fostering strong ties with our Safety and HR teams to enhance fleet safety, and minimizing accident-related costs are critical aspects of their role. The Fleet Manager supports continuous improvement initiatives alongside cross-functional IES team members, oversees driver qualifications per our Fleet Policy, and leads Fleet Coordinators through supervision, education, and mentorship. Additionally, they are responsible for generating department reports, maintaining KPI trackers, and developing training resources, among other duties.
