Both positions require proficiency in cabling and termination, including basic copper termination skills, installation of work area outlets, building of closets, and adherence to IES COMMUNICATIONS standards. Technicians are responsible for installing various types of connectors, terminating both indoor and outdoor fiber cables, calculating loss budgets, and completing all necessary paperwork accurately. Testing and troubleshooting using advanced equipment like OTDR and Fluke DTX 180, as well as performing both mechanical and fusion splicing, are integral parts of these roles. The Lead Technician, in addition, takes on supervisory duties, ensuring team performance, safety, and quality compliance while coordinating with Project Managers to meet project objectives efficiently.
